I bought these for my daughter who is hiking the Appalachian Trail. She needed to add some calories, but wanted to maintain her light pack weight. These worked great!
These bars are lightweight, calorie dense, and delicious. The definition of perfect backpacking meals. No need to boil water or dirty a bowl. Up and out early with a portable breakfast. I am carrying these on a 6 day Mt. Whitney trip this summer.
I took 2 meal2go bars on a day hike this weekend and we found them to be delicious. The texture is like a Cliff bar but they taste much better. I am actually a GI doctor and I am impressed with the balanced nutrients and especially with the amount of fiber included. I will have to order more next time to save on the shipping. Compared to most premium dehydrated meals the price is fair, especially considering you can leave the stove behind.
A friend at work recommended these to me knowing that I kayak fish and camp on a regular basis. These are perfect for a day on the water or a float trip over a couple days. Easy to carry and are a great meal on the go.
I’m not thru-hiking right now, but half a bar really satisfied me. A whole Cranberry/Almond bar contains 645 calories. That blows my mind! How can a bar pack so much energy, be nutritionally balanced, lightweight, and still taste that good? Really, I didn’t know what the bar was going to taste like, so I think I was anticipating something like a Clif Bar- dense, chewy, sweet. What I learned is, a Greenbelly bar is NOT like a Clif Bar, or any other bar I’ve ever had, for that matter. Rather than dense and chewy, the Cranberry/Almond bar was light, fluffy and slightly crispy. It was semi sweet and salty. I loved it--highly recommend.
Good taste, light weight, filling and packable. More satisfying as a meal than a Clif Bar. Love 'em.
